Torino
The Ford Torino was introduced in 1968 and remained in production until 1976. The Torino GT came with a 302, with a 390 and a 428 Cobra Jet available. A Ram Air option was available with the 428 CJ engine, though its rated power (335 hp) did not change. In 1969, the top model was the Cobra version which came standard with the 428 CJ, with the 428 SCJ (Super Cobra Jet) optional. Also in ‘69, the Torino Talladega model was introduced with special aerodynamic styling designed to compete in NASCAR. In 1970 the Torino was redesigned, gaining weight and length. The 428 Cobra Jet engine was now rated at 375 horsepower, with or without the Ram Air package. The Torino was again redesigned for 1972. A red 1975 Gran Torino with a large white stripe was used in the mid-seventies Starsky & Hutch TV series.
